Food Storage Recipes – Chocolate Pudding Mix

For todays post I will share an old family recipe for  chocolate pudding mix. This recipe can be made from ingredients that should be part of your food storage plans. This recipe is tasty and will help add some variety to your diet if you should have to live off your food stores. The original recipe calls for some margarine  to be added at the end of the cooking process but this is optional. You can mix this up ahead of time as it keeps for quite some time stored in tightly closed mason jars.

Chocolate Pudding Mix

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups flour

2 teaspoons salt

2 cups sugar

1 ½ cups cocoa

2 cups instant non-fat dry milk

Directions:

For Pudding:

Ingredients:

2 cups pudding mix

3 cups water

2 tablespoons margarine (optional)

1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

Combine mix with water and stir to combine. Cook in double boiler for 12-15 minutes stirring constantly. After pudding has reached desired consistency remove from heat and add margarine (if using) and vanilla. Cool and serve. Makes 6 servings.
